I’m Vincent, a research software engineer working for Brussels-based company Rayference. I have a PhD in thermal sciences and I work now on radiative transfer modelling and simulation applied to Earth observation.

I believe in the virtues of sharing: we achieve greater things through cooperation than competition, where greater is to be understood from the angle of wisdom rather than cleverness. My desire to contribute to open-source is a manifestation of this.

I am deeply concerned with the path humanity has taken: the industrial race that is happening is harming people, but also all the living beings we depend on. I used to be a climate activist, but I had to wind this down when my family grew for lack of time.

I’m trapped in a competitive professional game that forces me to use AI technologies to stay economically relevant, although I’m aware of the associated economical, environmental and ethical threats.

I’d like to leave this life thinking I did my best to make the world a better place for our children than if I hadn’t be there.
